Plain version: you are buying an advertising placement, you get it immediately, and you keep it until somebody pays more than you did. That money is not refunded, but it stays credited to the plate.

What is being sold

A plate is a fixed advertising placement on this page. Buying one puts a name of your choosing and a link of your choosing on that plate. The placement is delivered the moment the payment clears, which is what you are paying for. It is not a lottery, a competition, an auction for goods, or an investment, and nothing is won by chance.

How the price works

Every plate opens at $1. To take a plate that somebody already holds you have to pay at least one dollar more than they did. There is no maximum duration and no expiry: a plate is yours until another buyer pays more.

Your credit

When you lose a plate, the amount you paid for it stays credited to that plate under your email address. If you take the plate back later you pay only the difference between your credit and the new price. The credit never expires, applies to that plate only, cannot be transferred, withdrawn, or paid out in cash, and is released only against a new placement. To spend it you have to confirm your email address by clicking a link we send you.

Refunds

Payments are not refundable. Losing a plate to a higher bid is the normal working of the site and is not grounds for a refund.

There is one exception, and it is automatic. If somebody outbids you in the seconds between your payment starting and clearing, the placement does not become yours and the full amount is refunded without you asking. You are emailed when that happens.

What may not go on a plate

No gambling, adult content, illegal goods or services, malware, deceptive claims, or link shorteners. No impersonation of a person or a company you do not represent. No content that the payment processor prohibits.

We can remove a plate that breaks these rules at any time and without notice. A removed plate is not refunded and its credit is void, which is the only case in which a credit is lost. The plate itself goes back on sale at $1.
